David Miguel Simms was born on October 1st, 1970, in Guilford County, entering the lives of B. David and Mable Simms. On February 12th, 2026, David peacefully ended his earthly journey.

David was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Reidsville, where he served the Lord with unwavering faith. Family was everything to David, and he showed his devotion to them by being a great son, father, grandfather, sibling and mentor. David was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and football, and he often served as an umpire for local teams. In his spare time, David could be found riding off into the sunset on his motorcycle. 

David will continue to live on in the hearts of his son, Dequan M. Simms, US Army, of Ft. Hood, Texas; his daughter, Mikala D. Simms, of Charlotte; his stepson, Jacorey Ivy, of Charlotte; stepdaughters Maia Simone Friday (Michael), of Charlotte and Kiara Belew (Daniel), of Hickory; his grandchildren, John and Lauryn Gray, of Hickory, and Demaria and Jacorey Ivy, Jr.; his parents, B. David Simms and Mable Parker Simms, of the home; his two brothers: Daniel Parker, of Upper Marlboro, MD and Markus Simms (Mikisha), of Browns Summit; his two sisters: Chantay Parker, of Browns Summit and Tiffany Hairston (Bernard), of Greensboro, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
