Obituary

Hattie Lou Parker Cobb, affectionately known as “Mamie” to her family was beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Born on June 1, 1942, in Rockingham County, to the late Clyde and Mable Parker, Hattie was a woman whose life was rooted in family, love, strength, and faith.

On September 22, 2026, at 9:36 am Hattie answered the call of her Heavenly Father and peacefully entered eternal rest. Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the loving arms of God, free from pain, sorrow, and the burdens of this earthly life.

To know Mamie was to know a woman who loved her family deeply. She was a source of love, wisdom, comfort, and strength. Her presence was a blessing, and the love she gave will continue to live on through the generations she helped shape.

Hattie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clyde and Mable Parker, her children Desiree Cave Millner, Sam Cave III, and grandson, Tacuma Cave, brothers Clyde Parker Jr., Fred Parker, Walter Parker, Oliver Parker, and Henry Parker and her sister Malarian Ann Parker Morehead.

Though the losses left an emptiness in her heart, Hattie carried their memories and their love with her through her life. Today, we can imagine the beautiful reunion taking place in Heaven as she is once again surrounded by many of those she loved and lost.

Hattie leaves behind a precious family who will continue to carry her legacy. She is survived by her daughter, Sonja Cave Wilkins, granddaughter Takia Hayes (Kevin), grandson Byron “CJ” Millner, Jr, three great grandchildren Cam’ron J. Millner, Yalanie D. Hayes, and Kamar Cave; son in law Byron “Carlos” Millner, Sr., sister Mable Simms (David) and host of extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Her greatest legacy is not simply the years she lived, but the love she planted in the hearts of those who remain. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are living pieces of the love, strength and memories she leaves behind.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 30:5, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. “ Today, we weep because we will miss her, we weep for conversations that no longer happen, the hugs we can no longer receive, and the moments we could have just one more time.

But beneath the tears is gratitude.

Gratitude for life.

Gratitude for her love.

Gratitude for the memories.

Gratitude for every lesson she taught.

And gratitude for the privilege of calling her Mamie.

We will continue to speak her name, tell her stories, share her memories, and pass her love from one generation to the next.

Mamie, your earthly journey is complete.

You fought your fight.

You have finished your race.

You have kept the faith.

Now, may you rest peacefully in the presence of your Heavenly Father, reunited with those who went before you. Until we meet again you may rest among angels. Your work is done.
