Johnny
Martin
Oct 8, 1947 — May 6, 2026
Johnny Rasco Martin 78, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2026, at his home.
Born October 8, 1947, Johnny was one of a kind and lived a life true to himself. He was known for being straightforward and honest. He loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Johnny was employed for many years as City Manager for the City of Madison, from which he retired. Mechanically inclined, Johnny loved working on cars. Even during declining health, you could still find him in his garage working on his 1964 Ford. He also enjoyed drawing, yard work, and turning up the volume while listening to gospel music.
Johnny’s favorite place to “grab a plate,” as he would say, was Cobb’s Grill. When he was in the mood to cook, he did it quite well — his delicious meatloaf was always a big hit at the family dinners.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Martin and Helen McCain Martin Williams; his son, DeCarole Antonio “Tony” Martin; and a brother, Jerry Martin Jr.
He is survived by his son, Radondo (Lisa) Martin of Madison, NC; Brother, Clarence Martin of Reidsville, NC; Sisters, Jerlean Galloway of Wentworth, NC, Pauline (Joyce) Cummings, Dianne (Vernon) Motley, and Gloria (Donald) Gorham, all of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren Jaeqwon Martin, Jaelyn Martin, Shamara Satterfield; great grandchildren Zariah Martin, Tristan, Elyana and Eli, along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Johnny often stated "I'm ready! It won't be long before I will be with Jesus." We bid you farewell. You've fought a good fight, and you have been set free.
