Obituary for Percy Junior "Tiny" Settle
Percy Junior, "Tiny," Settle, beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 9, 1969, in Reidsville, North Carolina, at Annie Penn Hospital, to Percy Dickerson and Cecelia Ann Settle.
Known to many as "Tiny," he attended Reidsville High School, where he played basketball, football, and ran track.
Tiny was known for his big heart, quick wit, and unforgettable personality. He had a way of making you either mad or laugh-sometimes both at the same time-but no matter what, you always knew it came from a place of love. He will be remembered for always being there to help anyone, never hesitant to lend a hand or share a few words of wisdom in his own sarcastic way. Tiny was truly built "Ford-tough," facing life's challenges with strength, resilience, and humor.
He worked for years at Short Sugars BBQ and Richard's Meats & Things, where he was known for his hard work and friendly demeanor. When he wasn't working, you could find Tiny around the racetrack, especially when someone's car needed deep-cleaning, and he always knew how to make something better.
Tiny was a proud father and grandfather who loved his family deeply. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him immense joy and purpose, and his love for them will continue to guide their lives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Isiah Settle (1922-1995); grandmother, Christine Payton Settle (1926-1962); aunt, Judy Laverne Settle (1950-2019), uncles, Frank Settle and Robert, "Babe," Settle; along with several more aunts and uncles.
Tiny is survived by his mother, Cecelia Ann Settle; father, Percy Dickerson; brother, Larry Lee Settle; children, Percy Settle (wife Genevieve), Raquel Neal, Jalisha Neal, and Jessica Neal; grandchildren, Penelope, Aamir Levette, Adonis, and Alana; aunts Charlene Loretta Settle and Phillimina Huff; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
We all know that he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends, who take comfort in the many cherished memories he leaves behind.
Though Tiny is no longer with us in body, his spirit and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
