Thomas Leon "Pokey J"
Johnson, Jr.
September 18, 1952 – April 9, 2026
Thomas Leon “Pokey J” Johnson, Jr., was born on September 18th, 1952, to Mr. Thomas Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Mae Oliver Johnson, in Reidsville, North Carolina. Thomas peacefully went home to be with the Lord on April 9th, 2026.
Thomas made North Carolina his home from the day he was born. He was educated in the local public school system, attending South Scales Street Elementary and Booker T. Washington High. He was employed by IEM Plastics for twenty years. He was a devoted member of Groom’s Baptist Church, singing his praises in the male chorus, until his health began to fail. Thomas’ love for the Lord was evidenced by his favorite scripture, Psalm 14, “The fool says in his heart ‘There is no God’”. In his leisure time, Thomas enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with his wife and family, riding his bike or watching his favorite sport, basketball.
Thomas has now been reunited with his parents and his sister, Shirley Connolly, in everlasting comfort and peace.
Thomas leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Marion Graham Johnson; three daughters: Sherry Broadnax, of Eden, Connie Mae Graham, of Lexington and Thomasina Taylor, of Bear Creek; a son, Brian Lamont Graham, of Bear Creek; eight grandchildren; his sister, Minister Mary Gwynn (Charles), of Reidsville; his aunt, Lula Jenkins and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
